I am one of those fortunate people, able to live a lifestyle envied by all. I elected to abandon a conventional workplace to fulfill a life long dream and “go to sea” as a fishing charter captain. I obtained a head boat and chartered for "Perch" for 25 years out of a small port at the tip of Michigan’s Thumb, Port Austin.
Other water related activities that kept me busy included my
marine towing and salvage company, Thumb Marine, which I owned
and operated for over thirty
years.
Numerous story ideas are the result of events I have witnessed. Through my
writing, I pass on to my readers advice to help them to learn
from the mistakes of others.
Another reason for possible envy is my ability to reside in a
lakeshore, northern resort area during the summer and the
Florida Keys
in wintertime. It does not get any better
than that!
Truth is, the lake I work on in Michigan freezes in the winter. Thus, I
am out of a job. So I head South to continue my enjoyment
of the water.
